Overview
Rexplorer is a browser extension for browsing Reddit media. The product is designed to keep ordinary browsing behavior local to your browser while using a small licensing service for paid entitlement.
Reddit content and browsing
Rexplorer reads content and media information from Reddit pages and Reddit services in order to build its gallery, lightbox, filtering, favorites, watchlist and related features. Rexplorer does not send your Reddit browsing history, gallery contents, posts viewed, favorites, hidden posts, or watchlist contents to Anson Alexander’s Rexplorer licensing server.
Local browser storage
Rexplorer stores product preferences and feature state in browser storage and/or site-local storage. This can include settings, favorites, hidden items, watchlist-related state, license state and other product preferences needed for the extension to work.
License validation
When you activate or periodically validate Rexplorer Pro, the extension sends the entered Rexplorer license key to ansonalexander.com/rexplorer-api/. Current builds also send a randomly generated browser-installation identifier, the browser family, and the Rexplorer version.
The random installation identifier is used to limit casual license sharing and manage active browser installations. It is not derived from your hardware and does not contain a device serial number, MAC address, advertising ID, or hardware fingerprint. The licensing service stores hashed installation identifiers associated with the license, along with browser/version information and first/last-seen timestamps. Old inactive installations may age out; support can remove an installation when needed.
Purchases
Payments and subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Rexplorer receives the information needed to fulfill and administer your purchase, such as customer email, Stripe identifiers, plan/subscription state and license entitlement. Rexplorer does not receive or store your full payment-card number.
Support communications
If you contact support, we receive the email and information you choose to provide. We use it to respond to your request, diagnose issues and administer your Rexplorer account/license.
Selling data and advertising
Rexplorer does not sell personal data and does not use your browsing activity for behavioral advertising.
Security and retention
License and support records are retained as reasonably necessary to provide purchased access, manage subscriptions, prevent abuse, respond to support requests and meet legitimate accounting/legal obligations. Security controls may change as the product evolves.
Browser stores and third parties
Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, Reddit and Stripe have their own privacy practices. Rexplorer is an independent product and is not affiliated with Reddit, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft.
